Why Simplicity?

Have you ever met someone who was just comfortable in their own skin? Happy, clear on who they were and what they wanted. They didn’t rush through life, you felt like they were really listening when you talked, and they just exuded a quiet confidence. You may not have been able to quite put your finger on it, but there was just something different about them.

Those people have created the space for prioritizing what’s most important to them. They know who they are and how to really be themselves. Even if you’re not sure what needs to change in your life, you may feel that things just need to be different - less stress, more clarity. If so, it’s time to slow down, really focus, and transform your life through simplicity based on how you want to thrive. With self-reflection and concerted effort, you can create the life you really want to live - through simplicity.

And you don’t have to do it alone. Simplicity coaching creates a partnership focused on positive changes in your life.

The goal of this work isn’t to create an easy life…it’s to create a life full of what matters most to you. You don’t have to work harder, spend more, sleep less, or do more. The contentment you’re looking for isn’t “out there.” To find it, you just need to turn down the noise and listen to yourself. Simplicity doesn’t have to be some big spiritual wakening…it’s just about discovering what really drives you and how you can prioritize those things. It’s time to take control of your life and live on purpose.

I became a simplicity coach to help others figure out where to start or to understand what to do next in the effort to find more simplicity. You are the expert in your life, but that gap between inspiration and action can be rough. This doesn’t need to be a solo journey, though - I’m here to help clarify a path, encourage you, support you, and keep you motivated.

Simplify your life so you can live on purpose.

Take Control of Your Life

Are you where you want to be in your life? Whether that’s your job, family, hobbies, interests, daily routine, or anything else. I had success in a corporate job as a CFO, but I eventually realized that I want more for my life than just what I think I’m supposed to do or who I’m supposed to be. We are so much more than the limited roles and boxes society gives us.

Even if it’s a little scary at first, the effort of crafting (or re-crafting) your life through simplicity is totally worth it. You should never be apologetic about who you are deep down…just don’t delude yourself about who that is.

Exercising simplicity in your life is not necessarily easy…it takes work, but it’s a game-changer. Simplicity is an investment in yourself. Define core values. Create goals. Live a full life that reflects what you care for most.

Make space for simplicity.

Building simplicity in your life often starts with setting the right stage for change. After you’ve made the decision that simplicity is the way to go, the next step is often focusing on changes to your physical environment. Decluttering is a way to clear space for what’s next (and better).

Physical clutter brings overwhelm and exhaustion everywhere you look. It becomes a visible barrier to what your life can become. You spend energy, time, and focus trying to maintain all that stuff. Imagine the possibilities when you unleash that energy on living your life on purpose!

Turn your physical space into a clean slate for growth.

Where to start making space:

  • Envision what you want your space to look like. Whether your home, office, car, yard, or anywhere else you spend time, how would you want your space to look?

  • Identify what’s holding you back from clearing your spaces. You can absolutely get trapped by your clutter, and it’s time to get out.

  • Identify and follow a plan for making changes to your physical spaces. Start small, build on wins.

  • Maintain your newfound breathing room with habits to keep the clutter from returning.

Create a mindset for change

It’s easy to get so distracted by life that you let the immediate things take priority over the important things. Change requires perspective and allowing yourself to move beyond your old habits. It also requires focus and a commitment to prioritizing what’s important to you. If you find yourself focusing on what you perceive as the desires of others at the expense of your own needs, it’s time to release that stress, focus on what you need, and let go of any guilt you might feel about prioritizing your own needs.

If you want to show up more authentically for those you care about, you must make yourself a priority first. That whole “put the mask on yourself first” idea…

Simplicity coaching will help you release all the things you think you “should” be doing and start doing the things that empower you and reflect your wants and needs.

Where to start changing your mindset:

  • Explore and understand any personal narratives that hold you back. Rewrite those narratives to empower yourself.

  • Prioritize yourself. This is not selfish…you are the only one in charge of your thoughts and actions, and you owe it to yourself build a life that mentally and physically reflects that values that are important to you. If you don’t, you’ll find yourself living by someone else’s values.

  • Grow beyond any negative thought patterns and beliefs that may be keeping you from letting go of the past and start living on purpose.

  • Give yourself the space to explore what’s really important to you. Understand your core values and how you can start living in alignment with those values.
